FROM KITV NEWS 05/25/08 – “While most people are watching the nation's financial instability, local Democrats on Thursday slammed Gov. Linda Lingle for taking off to campaign for GOP running mate Gov. Sarah Palin while Hawaii is suffering its biggest economic woes in recent years….Republican Rep. Gene Ward said the governor will be a perfect campaign supporter for Palin. The closest thing of a clone to Gov. Lingle is Gov. Palin. They have comparable demographics, comparable style, comparable spirit, comparable ability to speak,’ Ward said.”

That’s the story that KITV ran four years ago. Linda Lingle campaigning all over the mainland for Sarah Palin, who Lingle had nominated at the National Republican Convention and told us we could trust for the second highest elected office in the land. 

Auwe. 

The battle is renewed in 2012, with the stakes just as high. Linda Lingle wants to be Hawai`i’s U.S. Senator. She wants a Republican controlled Senate. She wants a Republican President. She wants us to forget who she has supported and who her friends are. A “clone” of Sarah Palin? A rubber stamp for Mitch McConnell? Who knows? But for sure she’s someone on the wrong team when it comes to helping working families and the people of Hawai`i. 

But we are more akamai than that. We need your help today to make sure Linda Lingle does not get to Washington and that we have a Hawai`i delegation that will work with President Obama, for America and for our State. 

So much is at stake. We’ve got to start now.
