STATE CONVENTION DELEGATES MUST SUBMIT
PLEDGE OF SUPPORT FORM BY MAY 16
State Convention delegates and alternates are being informed that they must submit a Pledge of Support form to Democratic Party of Hawaii headquarters no later than 5 p.m., May 16, 2008.
Without the form, State Convention delegates will not be eligible to vote for people running to be a National Convention delegate or alternate.

The form can be mailed or hand-delivered to Democratic Party of Hawaii headquarters, 1050 Ala Moana Blvd. #2660, Honolulu, HI 96814. The form can also be faxed to (808) 596-2985.

Riding the wave of 30,000 new members, the Democratic Party of Hawaii will conduct its State Convention at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort May 23-25, 2008.
About 900 delegates are expected to make important decisions on the party's 2008 platform, resolutions, affirmative action plan, and amendments to the general laws of the Democratic Party of Hawaii.
Additionally, delegates will elect delegates to the National Convention, members of the State Central Committee, and the State Party Chair.
Friday, May 23
Registration for delegates and alternates will take place from 1 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 23. Friday afternoon's floor sessions will consist of pre-convention committee reports, appointments of permanent convention committees, the election of convention officers, and reports from the State Central Committee. A reception for delegates and guests will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by meetings of various convention committees.
Saturday, May 24
Registration for delegates and alternates will continue from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 24. Saturday morning's floor session will start at 8:30 a.m. and will consist of discussion and adoption of resolutions and amendments. Lunch will feature keynote speaker Frank de Lima. The afternoon session will consist of continuing discussion and adoption of resolutions and amendments, and the election by secret ballot of delegates to the National Convention, members of the State Central Committee, and presidential electors. The evening is reserved for social events.
Sunday, May 25
Registration for delegates and alternates will continue from 7 to 8 a.m., Sunday, May 25. Sunday's activities include the announcement of the results of Saturday's elections, and the election by open ballot of the State Party Chair, National Committeeman and National Committeewoman. The convention will conclude with a candidate rally and should be formally adjourned by noon.
The incoming State Central Committee will meet immediately after the convention's formal adjournment to elect its officers and select additional delegates to the National Convention. The Young Democrats will also meet immediately after the convention's formal adjournment. The National Convention delegates will meet upon adjournment of the State Central Committee meeting.
